Wayne, N.J. (11/8/25) – The Kean University football team scored 17 second half points on their way to defeating host William Paterson University, 17-7, on Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless first half, the Cougars were first to break up the shutout. The Cougars got great field position after Eddie Schaefer recovered the muff punt return from the Pioneers. The drive stalled, but Anthony Lopez recorded a 42-yard field goal for the game's first points.
Late in the third quarter the Cougars once again started their drive with good field position after a short punt from the Pioneers. Derrick Hammond capped off the drive that spanned into the final quarter with a seven-yard run to push ahead, 10-0.
After a William Paterson touchdown closed the gap, the Cougars scored what would be the final points of the day late in the fourth quarter. Michael Beers intercepted a pass deep in Pioneer territory putting the Cougars straight in the redzone. Aly Marzouk gave Kean cushion with a one-yard rush and a 17-7 lead.
