Cougars Claim Fred Myers Invitational Title
Delaware, Ohio (9/1/07) - The Kean
University men's soccer team claimed the 2007 Fred Myers
Invitational title by defeating host Ohio Wesleyan University, 2-0,
Saturday evening.
For the second straight night the Cougars shutout
their opponent as senior Kyle Crego (Ocean City,
N.J.) recorded four saves.
Kean notched what would be the winning goal just over 12 minutes
into the match as freshman Jerry Saintil (East Orange,
N.J.) drilled a shot from 30 yards out. The Cougars
added an insurance goal as senior Damien Serafin
(Wallington, N.J.) netted a goal of a turnover.
Four members of the squad were given All-Tournament
honors as seniors Anthony Tuesta (Clifton, N.J.),
Martin Garrido (Newark, N.J.) and Crego were named
to the All-Tournament team. Saintil, who scored the title
game-winner, was given the Dick Gauthier Award as the Most Valuable
Player.
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday,
September as they take on New York University in their home opener
beginning at 7:30 p.m.
