Women's Soccer Blanks Wilkes,
2-0
Edwardsville, Pa. (10/7/08) - Junior Jenna Godwin
(Kingwood, N.J.) scored what would be the game-winner with
just over four minutes remaining in the first half to propel Kean
to a 2-0 shutout over host Wilkes University Tuesday afternoon.
Kean improves to 8-3 overall with the win while Wilkes falls to
5-7-1 with the loss.
Godwin scored an unassisted goal at 40:59 from 25 yards out to
give Kean a 1-0 edge at the break. KU held an 8-1 advantage
in shots in the first 45 minutes of action.
Freshman Leigha Czerwinski (Neptune, N.J.)
(pictured right) gave the Cougars a cushion as she notched her
first collegiate goal in the 72nd minute off a pass from
sophomore Danielle Bussiere (South Brunswick,
N.J.).
Sophomore Leandra Russo (Galloway, N.J.)
tallied her third shutout of the year with two saves in net.
The Cougars continue non-conference action on Thursday, October
9th when they host Albright College at 7:30 p.m.
