Women's Lacrosse Falls to
Gwynedd-Mercy
UNION, N.J. (3/9/10) – Gwynedd-Mercy
College junior attack Colleen Dellostretto (Hatboro, Pa.)
scored five goals to lead the Griffins past host Kean University in
non-conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday evening.
Rookie Lyndsey Cannon (Delran, N.J.) and junior
Erica Kelly (West Deptford, N.J.) each had three
goals for the Cougars (0-2), while junior goalkeeper Trisha
Timony (Allentown, N.J.) made 12 saves for the Griffins (1-0)
in their season opener.
The Cougars scored the final two goals of the first half to take
5-3 lead at the break, with Cannon (pictured right) scoring two of
the Cougars final three goals of the half.
The second half was filled with scoring runs, as the Griffins
scored the first six goals of the half, including two each by
Dellostretto and sophomore Shannon Carabba (Erdenheim,
Pa.) to take a 9-5 lead with 18:07 remaining.
Kean answered with three straight goals, the first two by Kelly
and the final one by Cannon, to pull within 9-8 with just under 14
minutes left. However, those would be Kean's final
goals of the game, as the Griffins scored the final six goals of
the game to seal the win.
The Cougars return to action on Thursday, March 11, when they
host Western Connecticut State University in non-conference action
at 4 p.m.
