Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Natale, Seidel Lead Women's Soccer Past Scranton, 2-1

UNION, N.J. (9/15/10) – Sophomore Julianna Natale scored the game-winner with less than 12 minutes remaining in the game to lift the Kean University women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over University of Scranton on Wednesday evening.

The Cougars (5-1-1), who rallied from a 1-0 first-half deficit, scored twice in the final half to bounce back from their first loss of the season.

Less than two minutes into the game, the Royals (3-3) took the 1-0 lead when Christina Cognetti scored off the assist from Sydney Parker following the corner kick.

The Cougars were able to tie the game early in the second half, as sophomore Carly Seidel headed the ball past the keeper to knot the game at 1-1 in the 56th minute.

With the game still tied at 1-1 late, Natale had the ball on the left side of the goal, before bringing it back to her right foot and firing the shot into the upper right-hand corner.

The Cougars held a slight 12-9 advantage in shots, while Scranton had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

In goal, senior Leandra Russo (pictured right) stopped two shots, while Royals keeper Caitlin Byrne made three saves.

The Cougars open New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Saturday, September 18, at Richard Stockton College at 1 p.m.
