GLASSBORO, N.J. (10/21/11) – Rowan University scored six second-half goals to defeat Kean University, 6-3, in New Jersey Athletic Conference field hockey action on Friday evening.

The #17 Profs (12-5, 4-1 NJAC) erased a 2-0 deficit and scored the final three goals of the game against the Cougars (9-5, 3-3 NJAC).

Kean took an early 1-0 lead just minutes into the game when sophomore Stephanie Soares knocked in the unassisted goal into the right corner from the left side.  The Cougars extended the lead to 2-0 in the final minutes of the opening half, as junior Kelly Bachovchin had a blast from the right side into the left corner with just 2:51 remaining in the half.

The Profs quickly tied the game with a pair of goals in the first seven minutes of the second half.  Julie Carone cut the Kean lead in half with an unassisted goal just 5:14 into the half, before Rachael Dix knotted the game at 2-2 just 86 seconds later.

Dix would give the Profs their first lead of the game at 47:01, when she took the pass from Lauren Connor, dribbled past a Kean defender and scored for the 3-2 lead.

Kean senior Olivia Triano (pictured left) would tie the game one final time less than a minute later, scoring the unassisted goal with her blast from the top of the circle only 46 seconds later.

The Profs would take the lead for good on a goal by Janice Camlin at 51:43, before closing out the scoring with two goals in the final 10 minutes.

Rowan held a 20-7 advantage in shots and had 12-7 edge in penalty corners.

The Cougars travel to Mercy College on Tuesday, October 25, for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
