Baseball One Win Away From World Series

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (5/18/12) – Senior southpaw Ryan Zamorsky (pictured left) tied a single season record with his 10th win of the season, as Kean University is now just one win away from the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Tournament following a 2-0 win over top-seeded Keystone College on Friday evening.

Zamorsky (10-1) scattered five hits and only allowed one walk, while striking out five with the complete game shutout.

The #2 Cougars need to just one win to advance to the World Series for the fifth time in the last six seasons.  Kean advances to face the winner of Saturday's elimination game at 5 p.m.

Keystone now awaits the winner of #4 Ramapo College/#5 Neumann University in an elimination game on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning following a bunt single by senior centerfielder Vinny Galya and the RBI double by senior shortstop Steve Sanguiliano.

Two innings later, Kean extended the lead to 2-0 when junior third baseman Nick Ramagli led off the inning with a walk, advanced to third on the single by sophomore second baseman Tyler Smarslok and scored on a passed ball.

The Giants threatened in the fourth inning after designated hitter Chris Bzozowski walked and third baseman Lymbel Guerrero singled to centerfield.  However, Bzozowski was thrown out at third on the sacrifice attempt for the first out of the inning and Zamorsky got a pair of fly outs to keep the shutout intact.

Sanguiliano (pictured right) was 2-of-4 with one RBI, while Galya and Smarslok recorded the other Kean hits.

For Keystone, senior right-hander Blaine O'Brien (9-2) went the distance, allowed just four hits and one earned run, while striking out six.

Guerrero and centerfielder Brian Del Rosso each had two hits for the Giants.
