ATLANTA, Ga. (8/31/12) – The Kean University men's soccer team opened the 2012 season falling to Oglethorpe University, 3-1, in the Sonny Carter Invitational hosted by Emory University on Friday afternoon.
The Petrels took a 3-0 lead in the first half following an own goal and a pair of goals from Jakub Madej.
Kean got on the board in the second half when freshman Luis Velasquez (pictured left) scored off the assist from senior Kharee Winslow in the 78th minute.
The Cougars posted a 23-11 advantage in shots, as Petrel goalkeeper Frank Petersen made nine saves.
Senior goalkeeper John Londono made three saves for Kean in the second half.
The Cougars face host Emory University tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.
