Union, N.J. (10/30/13) – The Kean University women's soccer team finished the regular season on a high note as they blanked William Paterson University by the final of 2-0 Wednesday evening in NJAC action.
With the win, Kean settles into the fifth seed in the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference tournament and will travel to take on #4 Richard Stockton College on Saturday, November 2nd at a time to be determined.
The Cougars got on the board late in the first half as junior Shelby Pedersen crossed a short pass near the endline to senior Amanda Repko (pictured left) about 20 yards out on the left hand side. Repko then chipped the ball high into the net. Keeper Alyssa Falduto got a piece of it, however it rolled off the tip of her hands and into the back of the net for the first score of the night.
Kean (9-5-3, 5-3-1 NJAC) added insurance early in the second half as sophomore Deanna Columbia finished a through ball from senior Shannon Pedersen, for a 2-0 advantage.
After taking just three shots in the first half, the Cougars poured on the offense in the second stanza, attempting 13 shots in the final 45 minutes.
Keeper KC Nunez picked up her fourth shutout of the year while tallying five saves. Falduto finished with six saves in the loss.
