UNION, N.J. (9/19/15) – The Kean University men's soccer team posted its fifth-consecutive victory and third-straight shutout on Saturday with a 3-0 blanking of DeSales University. Sev Kherlopian and Timofei Kharisov both posted three points with a goal and assist in the match.
DeSales had the better chances of the two sides in the first 20 minutes. The Bulldogs were outshooting their hosts 6-3 over that stretch, but Kean goalkeeper Chidi Iloka (pictured left) made three first-half saves to keep DeSales off the board.

Kean earned a corner kick 20 minutes into the game. Mateo Castro lined up to take it in the corner, and sent a bullet pass into the box. Kherlopian knocked it down and settled it with one touch, then blasted a shot with his second. The DeSales goaltender did not have time to react as the ball whizzed by him for the score.
That tally switched the momentum of the game. Kean outshot the Bulldogs 12-2 in the rest of the half. Kherlopian was all over the field in the first 45. He assisted on Kharisov's goal with a deep pass to the six-yard line that the freshman finished off for his fourth goal of the year.
Kean had a few other good strikes in the first half as well, none better than when the scoreboard was ticking down and Robert Barrera's breakaway bid to beat the clock went just wide.
The Cougars maintained all the momentum in the second period. Though they only scored once more, the shot totals were 19-3 in the half. Kean's second period goal came when Kharisov set up Vaughn Cusano on a nice give-and-go on the left side with 10 minutes remaining in the game.
Iloka made four saves to post his third-straight shutout. His scoreless streak is at nearly 300 minutes. The final shot count was 34-11 and corner kicks were 8-1 in favor of Kean.
The Cougars are now 7-1 on the year, while DeSales fell to 3-4.
The men's soccer team will remain at home to take on Purchase College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. inside Kean Alumni Stadium.
