Rutgers-Camden Edges Women's Soccer

Camden, N.J. (10/14/17) – The Kean University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Rutgers University-Camden on Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.

Freshman Meghan Wachira notched her sixth game-winning goal of the season as Rutgers-Camden defeated Kean for their time since 2006.

Kean falls to 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the NJAC, snapping a three-game winning streak. The Cougars, who are now 14-3-3 in their all-time series against Rutgers-Camden, had been 9-0-1 against the Scarlet Raptors in their last 10 outings. The victory snapped the Raptors' two-game losing streak and lifted them to 2-5 in the NJAC and 6-8 overall.

The decisive goal came after senior midfielder Kaitlyn Ennis threaded a perfect pass through the middle of the Cougars' defense, springing Wachira for a one-on-one with goalie Casey McDonnell.  Wachira was able to work the ball past McDonnell at the top of the box at 74:42.

Her shot was one of only two Raptor shots on goal for the game as they posted only their second shutout ever in the history of the 20-game series. Kean finished with a 13-8 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. McDonnell made one save in the Cougars' net.
