Union, N.J. (3/19/17) – St. John Fisher College used a seven run, second inning to propel past Kean University by the final of 7-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinals (6-5) plated seven runs on five hits in the frame with three Cougar miscues. The big blows came off the bats of Evan Ryan with a two-run shot to left and Scott Eisenmenger with a three run blast to left center. Eisenmenger had another homerun in the game prior to this as St. John Fisher fell to Misericorida in extra innings.
Kean (9-6) scratched across a single run in the sixth as Ivan Rivera led off with a four pitch walk. He moved to third on a double off the bat of Derek Walker (pictured left). Rivera scored on a groundout RBI from Nick Polizzano.
Freshman Anthony Brophy earned the win with six innings of work. Brophy (4-0) allowed one run and five hits with two walks and one strikeout. Offensively, Ryan and Justin Graham each had a multi-hit game going 2-for-4 each.
For the Cougars, Frank Urso and Brian Cole each had two hits.
