Port Charlotte, Fla. (3/15/18) – For the second time in three days the Cougars and Pioneers went to extras and again it was Marietta College pulling it out, today by the final of 6-5.
The Pioneers (7-1) took advantage of three walks, two hit batsmen and also recorded a hit to push across three runs in the bottom of the 10th to turn a 5-3 deficit into a 6-5 win.
Tied at three-all in extras, Kean pushed across two runs to take a 5-3 lead. John Carello and Matt Krupa delivered back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners with one out. Zach Joe registered an RBI single down the line to go ahead, 4-3. Anthony Laureano kept things going with an RBI single of his own to give Kean a 5-3 advantage.
Offensively Joe was 3-for-5 while Steve Santigate, Laureano, Krupa, and Carello all had two hits.
Kean makes the trip back north and will face St. John Fisher on Sunday at home.
