Union, N.J. (2/22/19) – The Kean University baseball team used a 10 run first inning to breeze past SUNY Old Westbury by the final of 17-3 on Friday afternoon in non-conference action.
Zachary Marzano led the Cougars (4-1) with a 3-for-5 day with four RBI, two runs scored, a double and triple.
Michael Lapczynski turned a 1-0 lead into a four run advantage with a bases-clearing double early in the first. Later in the frame, Marzano plated two with a two-run triple. In total the Cougars collected four hits, seven walks, two stolen bases and advanced on a balk as they batted around in the first.
With the lead already in double-digits, Kean plated six more in their next at-bat with four hits, two walks, an error and a balk.
Offensively Lapczynski was 1-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored while Chris Vetter and Steve Santigate each drove in two.
On the mound, RJ Jobin earned his first collegiate win with a five innings performance. He allowed just one run and four hits.
Kean returns to action on Saturday when they host Misericordia University at noon.
