Baseball Shuts Down CSI, 11-0

Union, N.J. (3/19/19) – The Kean University baseball exploded for 11 runs on 18 hits while shutting down the College of Staten Island by the final of 11-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Cougar pitching staff combined to allow just four hits (all singles) and just one walk on the day.  Southpaw Frank LoGiudice (3-1) earned the win after tossing six innings, allowing just two hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

Offensively every starting position player had either a hit or RBI on the day.  Highlighting the action was Tim Huxen as he broke out with a 3-for-5 day and four RBI.  Zachary Marzano was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an inside-the-park homerun.

Marzano got the scoring going in the second with his homerun and Kean (11-5) followed with a four spot in the third to jump out to a 5-0 lead.  The Cougars sealed the win with another four run inning in the fifth.

Phil Marcantonio was 3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored while Zach Joe was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in the leadoff spot.

For the Dolphins (4-5) Jett Nourvertne collected half of their hits (2-for-2) and added a stolen base.

Kean heads to the road for their first official "road game" of the season when they face Stevens Institute of Technology on Thursday.
