Punta Gorda, Fla. (3/9/19) – Baldwin Wallace University won a tight battle as they edged the Kean University baseball team by the final of 3-2.
The starting pitchers were locked in the zone as neither offense was able to scratch across a run until the sixth inning. The Cougars (7-3) struck first as Nick Polizzano singled home Frank LoGiudice who reached on a leadoff error. Two batters later, Zach Joe doubled home Polizzano for a 2-0 Kean advantage.
Baldwin Wallace (4-5) answered and took the lead with three runs in the top of the seventh as Tony LoParo and Phillip Wells started off the inning with singles. After a foul out down the line against the fence, Reese Albright doubled home LoParo to cut the deficit to one. After a pitching change, pinch-hitter Luke Razzant tied the game up with an RBI single. Alex Ludwick gave BWU the lead with a sac fly one batter later.
For Kean Joe was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a double. For Baldwin Wallace Wells was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
The Cougars look to bounce back on Sunday with a doubleheader against #5 Swarthmore College and Arcadia University.
