Union, N.J. (9/21/19) – The Kean University women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Stockton University in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both on Saturday afternoon.
The Ospreys (7-1, 1-0 NJAC) got on the board quickly as Susan Porambo fed Sydney Williams from the left side 10 yards out. Williams took the pass and finished it with a hard strike to the lower right post and a 1-0 lead.
Stockton poured on the offensive threats, but Kean's Marissa Cook kept them at bay with seven saves in the first half, along with a team save on the goal line, to keep the Cougars (3-4, 0-1 NJAC) close at intermission.
Salena LeDonne made it 2-0 13 minutes into the second half, converting a penalty kick opportunity.
In total, Cook finished with 12 saves on the afternoon.
Kean returns to non-conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Marywood University.
