UNION, N.J. (9/4/19) –
Jenna Patrone scored two goals as the Kean University field hockey team recorded their second straight shutout with a 3-0 victory over Arcadia University on Tuesday evening.
Lia DiPiazza netted a penalty stroke goal for the Cougars who improve to 2-1 overall.
Sydney Cyr recorded three shots for the Knights who fall to 1-2 overall.
Kean broke through in the 25
th minute, when Patrone dribbled through the defense and fired a diving backhanded shot past the keeper for the 1-0 advantage. The Cougars increased their lead to 2-0 in the 40
th minute when
Melissa Way took a hard foul and earned Kean a penalty stroke. DiPiazza, who didn't start the game due to an injury, was called in off the bench to take the shot. The junior calmly tapped the ball in for the 2-0 lead.
Patrone scored one more time in the fourth, as Way played a corner into the senior for the 3-0 lead.
Kean edged Arcadia on shots (18-9) and penalty corners (7-6). Patrone finished with six shots, while
Ja'Carra Jackson totaled four.
Rachel Mills,
Peyton Mann and Way all tallied two shots apiece.
Belly Reynoso improved to 2-1 in goal with three saves.
