Scranton, Pa. (2/29/20) – Senior Danni LeSaint netted the game winner with 48 seconds left in the first overtime as the Kean University women's lacrosse team edged host the University of Scranton, 9-8.
LeSaint finished with a game-high five goals as the Cougars improved to 2-0.
Kean trailed by as many as four (6-2) at halftime, but the Cougars chipped away and scored the first four goals of the second period and tied things up on a free-position goal from LeSaint with just over 21 minutes to go.
#24 Scranton (0-3) and Kean then traded single goals down the stretch. It was LeSaint again who tied things up at eight-all with just a little over three minutes to go in regulation. The Cougars had an opportunity within the final seconds with a free position shot, but Scranton's Lauren Devlin came up with a save to send the contest into overtime
Josie Pagano stopped 12 shots in the win.
Kean returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Stevens.
