UNION, N.J. (9/28/21) – Four different Cougars scored as the #4 Kean University Field Hockey team extended its winning streak to 15 games and remained unbeaten with a 4-1 victory over SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday evening.
Peyton Mann, Laura Stump,
Jorja Hibschman and
Jordan Thompson all scored for the Cougars who remain unbeaten at 10-0 overall.
Jessica Ascencao notched the lone goal for the Hawks who fall to 6-2 overall.
Mann, Stump and Hibschman all scored during a three-goal second quarter. Mann scored in the 20
th minute after taking the ball from a defender and beating the keeper one-on-one. Stump scored in the 23
rd minute after tapping in a
Lia DiPiazza pass. Hibschman capped off the scoring with a goal off a goalkeeper save. Kean maintained a 3-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, New Paltz finally got on the scoreboard with a goal in the 41
st minute. The Cougars added an insurance goal in the 57
th minute when Thompson blasted a rocket passed the keeper for the score.
Jenna Flemings and
Belly Reynoso combined for two saves in 60 minutes of work.
Head Coach
Leslie LaFronz and the Cougars will return to action on Thursday, Sept, 30th, in Annville, Pa. against the Dutchman of Lebanon Valley College at 7:00 p.m.
