Union, N.J. (9/3/21) – The Kean University women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 setback to open the 2021 fall season on Friday afternoon.
After having their scheduled opener canceled due to the remnants of Hurricane Ida, the Cougars battled Westfield State University on Friday morning in the Cougar Classic.
The Owls' (1-0) Delaney Parker, who had a hand in all four goals, struck first in the 23rd minute for what would be the only goal of the first half. Parker added another five minutes into the second half and assisted Jaida Cochran five minutes later to put the game out of reach. Parker closed out the scoring off an assist from Bella Parrotte for the game's final.
Despite the game's final outcome, the match was evenly split in shots, shots on goal and corner opportunities.
Kean will face the University of Scranton on Saturday at 4 p.m.
