NORTH MYTRLE BEACH, S.C. (3/5/22) – Paige Metz went 4-for-6 with three runs scored, two RBI's, and one double over two games as the Kean University softball team opened their Spring Break Trip with two victories at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic on Saturday.
Kean 3, Lynchburg 2

Sarah Zengel and
Courtney Sherwood each tallied two hits apiece as the Cougars (3-1) opened their spring break trip with a one run victory over the Hornets (6-5).
Kean took a 2-0 lead into the fourth after a Zengel RBI in the second and a Majorczak RBI in the third. Lynchburg cut the lead in half at 2-1 with an RBI single in the fourth, before
Karly Messina reached on an error that scored Majorczak in the fifth as Kean held a 3-1 advantage. The Hornets would score one more time in the fifth, but that would be all as Lynchburg never threated a run in the final two innings.
Annabella Marino improved to 3-0 with four strikeouts in the complete game victory.

Metz and
Melody Caces went a combined 5-for-5 with five runs scored and three RBI's as the Cougars (4-1) shutout the Panthers (0-5) in five innings.
Kean tallied four runs in the first two innings as Metz, Caces and Majorczak all posted RBI's. Metz added another RBI, while
Eliza Filus recorded a three run inside the park homer to increase their lead to 9-0 in the fourth.
Lauren Paulk capped off the scoring in the fifth with a two RBI double that drove in
Andee Perseponko and
Tara Daukshus.
Heather Clevenger earned her first victory of the season with seven strikeouts and allowing just two batters to reach base.
