UNION, N.J. (2/4/23) – Griffin Barker totaled 17 points and 17 rebounds as the Kean University men's basketball team fell to first-place Rowan University, 95-88 on Saturday afternoon.
Marcellus Ross totaled 27 points for the Profs who improve to 19-3 overall and 15-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Jailen Jamison notched 17 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals for the Cougars who fall to 16-6 overall and 9-6 in the NJAC.
First Half
- Kean led 47-45 at halftime.
- Rowan shot 46.9% from the floor and 42.9% from downtown.
- Kean shot 39.0% from the floor and 27.3% from behind the arc.
- The Profs opened the contest on a 13-5 run.
- Letrell West scored six points during a 15-7 run to even the score at 20-20 with 10:59.
- Rowan pushed their lead back to six on back-to-back buckets (37-31).
- Kean closed on a 14-7 run, including an Ethan Stith layup as time expired.
- Barker and West combined for 21 points.
- Ross scored 11 points for the Profs.
Second Half
- Rowan outscored Kean, 50-41.
- Rowan shot 60.7% from the field and 50.0% from behind the arc.
- Kean shot 38.7% from the floor and 16.7% from behind the arc.
- The Cougars and Profs traded buckets as neither side held larger than a six-point advantage.
- Heem Burno knocked in two free throws as Kean hung on to an 88-87 advantage with 2:20 remaining.
- The Profs closed on an 8-1 run, including a key three pointer from Josh Wright with 19 seconds remaining.
- Ross and Wright combined for 24 points for the Profs.
- Jamison notched 12 points for the Cougars.
