UNION, N.J. (3/31/23) – Rosalee Lachner and
Kylie Giordano combined for six points as the Kean University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest to Whittier College, 9-6 on Friday evening.
Loren Jade Sepulveda and Peyton Climer scored two goals apiece for the Poets who improve to 5-4 overall. Lachner and Giordano both tallied three points on two goals and one assist for the Cougars who fall to 2-7 overall.
First Half
- The Poets scored five times on five free positions shots to hold a 5-0 advantage in the second quarter.
- The Cougars broke the scoreless drought as Lachner scored off a Kat Palaia feed just before halftime.
- Despite the deficit, Kean held the advantage on shots 18-13.
Second Half
- After Whitter scored to open the second stanza, Kean notched five straight goals and cut the Poets lead to 6-5 early in the fourth.
- Giordano scored twice and assisted on a goal during the run.
- After trading goals, Whittier finished the evening with back-to-back scores as the Cougars never recovered.

- Lauren Pluta notched two goals.
- Palaia finished with two assists.
- Lachner added three groundballs, three caused turnovers and two draw controls.
- Palaia and Sam Murri collected three groundballs apiece.
- Nicole Courtney made 10 saves with three groundballs.
