RALEIGH, N.C. (3/4/23) - Sydney Hixenbaugh went 3-for-6 with a double over two games as the Kean University softball team split the final day of the Grand Slam Triangle Classic hosted by William Peace University on Saturday.
Lynchburg 8 (6-1) , Kean 0 (2-3) (6 Inn.)
- The Hornets notched eight runs on 10 hits in a mercy rule contest.
- Lynchburg scored six runs over the first four innings, including a two RBI triple in the first.
- The Cougars left 12 runners on base in the loss.
- Eliza Filus went 2-for-4, while Hixenbaugh went 2-for-3.
- Kaleigh Hackett and Caroline Joy both finished 2-for-3 for the Hornets.
- Hixenbaugh and Olivia Quercia combined for five strikeouts in the loss.
Kean 1 (3-3), Methodist 0 (7-5)
- The Cougars lone run came when Autaum Hilyer reached on a Haven Williams throwing error that allowed Melody Caces to score.
- Annabella Marino struck out three and only allowed four hits in a complete game victory.
- Caces and Hixenbaugh both finished 1-for-3
- Andee Perseponko went 1-for-2.
- Haley Fethke went 3-for-3 at the dish, while Kim Bordeaux struck out four in the circle for Methodist.
