Women's Basketball Opens Home Slate with Win Over Brooklyn

Union, N.J. (11/19/24) – The Kean University women's basketball team won their home opener by the final of 64-54 against Brooklyn College on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Cougars (2-1) led for three plus quarters.

The first quarter featured a slow start for both offenses as Brooklyn shot 13% and the Cougars 24%.

Kean pushed out to their first double-digit lead of the day with seven minutes to go in the second quarter as Dacia Mack nailed a jumper (15-5).

The Bulldogs used a run before the break and closed within two (15-13), but Kean responded down the stretch as Maddison Vaughn hit a fastbreak layup with time expiring to give the Cougars a little room (20-14).

Both teams came out of the break with renewed energy and doubled over their offensive output from the previous quarters.

Kean was able to outscore the Bulldogs by two points in each quarter which coupled with their six-point lead in the first half was enough to outlast Brooklyn for their first home win of the season.
