Baseball Moves Past Mt. St. Vincent

Union, N.J. (3/16/24) – The Kean University baseball team improved to 11-5 with a win over University of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Dolphins (3-6) scored in their first at-bat with back-to-back, two out doubles.  Eric Zimmerman traded places with Will Granata for a 1-0 lead.

Kean took the lead in the same inning and didn't look back.  Tyler Stone collected a bases loaded walk to tie things up and Christian Pellone lofted a sac fly for the 2-1 advantage.

The Cougars loaded the bases with the first three batters in the third as Gianni Marano doubled, Phil Marcantonio walked and Stone singled.  All three runners moved up on a passed ball for the inning's first run and Pellone singled to add one more (4-1).

Leading 5-1 heading into the sixth, the Cougars added four insurance runs with RBI singles from Marano and Stone and another sac fly from Pellone.

Mt. St. Vincent added three runs in the top of the ninth with three hits for what would be the final.
