Softball Holds Stevens Scoreless in Doubleheader Sweep

UNION, N.J. (3/26/24) – Maya Thompson finished 3-for-5 with four RBI's as the Kean University softball team swept a doubleheader with Stevens on Tuesday afternoon.

Game 1: Kean 8, Stevens 0 (6 Inn.)
  • Kean notched single runs in the first and second innings behind RBI's singles from both Thompson and Eliza Filus.
  • Karly Messina and Thompson added two RBI's apiece in the fourth to push the Cougars lead to 6-0.
  • Messina added another RBI and scored a run in the sixth.
  • Messina and Thompson both finished 2-for-4 with three RBI's apiece.
  • Melody Caces went 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
  • Nikki Lusnia fanned six batters in the complete game victory.
Game 2: Kean 8, Stevens 0 (5 Inn.)
  • All of the Cougars runs came in the bottom of the second.
  • Kean notched eight runs on four hits and three errors.
  • Andee Perseponko, Isabella Polash, Caces, Messina, Thompson and Lauren Paulk were all credited with RBI's in the inning.
  • Paulk finished 2-for-3 with two RBI's
  • Anabella Farinha notched a complete game shutout in the circle.
