Union, N.J. (12/3/25) – The Kean University women's basketball team picked up their first win of the season with a 54-45 victory over Ramapo College on Wednesday evening.
The win is the first for head coach Tasha Pointer while at Kean.
In the low scoring affair, the Cougars (1-4, 1-1 NJAC) finally got some breathing room in the fourth quarter, pushing their advantage out to double-digits for the first time, sparked by a 6-0 run by Erika Mercedes.
Kean was able to ride the momentum and power through in the final minute to hold off the Roadrunners (4-4, 0-2 NJAC).
Mercedes finished with a career-high 27 points while adding seven rebounds and five steals. Adriana Misciagna connected on eight points and eight rebounds in her second straight start. The squad collected 16 steals on the night.
Kean travels to TCNJ for a Saturday NJAC matchup.
