Montclair, N.J. (4/19/25) – The Kean University softball team swept Montclair State University on Saturday in NJAC action.
Game One – Kean 9, MSU 0 (6 innings)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (20-16, 10-4 NJAC) broke up the shutout in the fourth as Gina Mahlik registered an RBI triple and Maya Thompson followed with an RBI single.
They added three more in the fifth with RBI singles from Samantha Raymond and Andee Perseponko as well as an RBI groundout from Mahlik.
Kean put the game out of reach in the sixth with a four spot. Kiley Allen and Perseponko each had RBI hits in the frame.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Nikki Lusnia twirled a one-hitter while fanning 11 in the win. She allowed three walks.
Game Two – Kean 4, MSU 0
HOW IT HAPPENED:
It was the fourth inning again that put runs on the board for Kean, this time in the form of a two-run homerun off the bat of Kylie Petak.
The Cougars added some cushion in the sixth with an RBI double from Raymond. She later came around to score on an error.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Anabella Farinha earned the win in relief. She tossed six and two thirds innings, allowing just two hits and one walk. She struck out four.

Kean travels to Stockton University on Tuesday.
