Union, N.J. (8/30/25) – The Kean University women's volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on opening day of the 2025 season.
Kean 3, Mt. Aloysius 1 (25-20, 25-16, 22-25, 25-22)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (3-1) led wire-to-wire in set one and never trailed in set two before Mt. Aloysius responded in set three, taking a 10-4 lead. Kean answered with an 8-1 run and took a slim one-point advantage, before Mt. Aloysius used a run of their own (6-2) to take a lead they would not relinquish.
In what would be the final set, Kean took a early lead (7-2) before a nip-and-tuck battle ensued that saw the Cougars close out the opener.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Madeline Dohogne recorded a career-high 31 digs while Aspen O'Brien added 50 assists. Victoria Latino and Cayley Elena Morrison tied for a team-best 13 kills each as Latino hit .429. Ashley Torok registered a double-double 12 kills and 17 digs.
Lynchburg 3, Kean 0 (14-25, 21-25, 23-25)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Lynchburg dominated the first two sets before the Cougars rallied in set three keeping it close and taking several leads. Katie Hardie helped seal the win for Lynchburg with two kills down the stretch.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Torok had 10 kills with seven digs in the nightcap. Aubre Adams added six kills and three assisted blocks.
UP NEXT:
Kean heads to the road for a three game series in Arlington, Virginia next weekend.
