Duncan's OT Goal Lifts Cougars Past Lebanon

UNION, N.J. - (10/2/06) Kean University 's Kayla Duncan
(Edison, N.J.) scored the game-winner with 2:37 left in the first
overtime to give the Cougars a 2-1 victory over Lebanon Valley
College in women's soccer action on Monday evening. With the win,
the Cougars record improved to 8-2, while the Flying Dutchwomen
fall to 1-7-2.
The game appeared that it was going to go into a second overtime
before senior Heather Anzivino (Belford, N.J.) flicked a crossing
pass into the center of the box where Duncan ran onto a header that
just made into net for the game-winner.
Kean controlled play for most of the match, but Lebanon Valley was
the first to get on the board as senior Gretchen Artz (Lebanon,
Pa.) scored 31 minutes into the match off a failed clear. Five
minutes later, the Cougars tied the match when Jenna Godwin
(Kingwood, N.J.) headed home a pass from Stacey Dzvileski
(Hillsborough, N.J.).
The game remained scoreless in the second half despite the Cougars
out shooting Lebanon Valley 13-4. The Flying Dutchwomen goalie
Erika Ely (Reading, Pa.) made a handful of clutch stops to keep
Kean off the scoreboard.
In the match, Kean out shot Lebanon Valley 21-8 and held a 6-3
advantage in corner kicks. Ely made eight saves, while Kean keeper
Nicole Groszew (Denville, N.J.) made four saves and allowed no
goals in 63 minutes of action.
