Newport News, Va. (9/10/11) – The Kean University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Virginia Wesleyan University at the Captains Classic at Christopher Newport University on Saturday afternoon.
For the Marlins (4-0), forward Jessica Edelman netted the game-winner in the 66th minute, arcing the ball into the back side of the net off of the corner kick.
Virginia Wesleyan held a 13-4 advantage in shots over the Cougars (2-2), while also holding a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
For the Cougars, freshman Kaitlin King made four saves.
Kean battles host Christopher Newport on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
