Women's Soccer Blanks Devils, 2-0

MADISON, N.J. (9/7/11) – Junior Carly Seidel had a goal and an assist to lead the Kean University women's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout victory over host FDU-Florham in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

For the Cougars (2-1), freshman goalkeeper Kaitlin King made eight saves in her first career start, as FDU-Florham (1-2) held a slight 10-9 edge in shots and 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Seidel netted the game winner early in the first half, scoring the unassisted goal in the 18th minute.  She would later assist on the insurance goal less than six minutes in the second stanza, when senior Danielle Esposito knocked in her second goal of the season.

The Cougars travel to Christopher Newport University for the Captain's Classic this weekend, as the Cougars open with Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, September 10, at 1 p.m.
