MADISON, N.J. (9/7/11) – Junior
Carly Seidel had a goal and an assist to lead the
Kean University women's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout victory
over host FDU-Florham in non-conference action on Wednesday
evening.
For the Cougars (2-1), freshman goalkeeper Kaitlin
King made eight saves in her first career start, as
FDU-Florham (1-2) held a slight 10-9 edge in shots and 4-0
advantage in corner kicks.
Seidel netted the game winner early in the first half, scoring
the unassisted goal in the 18th minute. She would
later assist on the insurance goal less than six minutes in the
second stanza, when senior Danielle Esposito
knocked in her second goal of the season.
The Cougars travel to Christopher Newport University for the
Captain's Classic this weekend, as the Cougars open with
Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, September 10, at 1 p.m.
