Men's Soccer Chops Down Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. (9/16/15) – The Kean University men's soccer team notched its fourth-straight win with a 4-0 shutout of Marywood University on Wednesday afternoon. Sev Kherlopian and Vaughn Cusano had both a goal and assist and freshman Chidi Iloka made three saves in goal for the shutout.

Richard Zapata got things going for Kean early when he capitalized on a penalty kick awarded just 45 seconds into the game. It was his first score of the season.

12 minutes later, Kherlopian got a feed from Cusano (pictured left) to extend the Kean first-half lead to 2-0.

Less than two minutes after the midway point, Kherlopian returned the favor when he crossed the ball from the left side over for Cusano to tap it into the Pacer goal.

Ishmael Soria capped the Kean scoring with a rocket free kick from 25 yards out on the right side at 79:45 for his first goal as a Cougar.

Wednesday marked Iloka's second-consecutive shutout. He now owns a scoreless streak of over 200 minutes dating to the 62nd minute of the game against St. Joseph's of Long Island.

Kean dominated the corner kick count 11-1 and outshot their hosts 23-15. The Cougars are now 6-1 on the year while Marywood fell to 1-2-2.

The men's soccer team will return home on Saturday to take on DeSales University at 1 p.m.
