Port Charlotte, Fla. (3/12/24) – The Kean University baseball team finished with a win in the Snowbird Classic, defeating Ohio Wesleyan University, 15-10, on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Kean (10-5) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning with six hits, including three doubles.  Phil Marcantonio connected with a two RBI double and Christian Pellone added the same three batters later.  Caleb Rodriguez drove in two with a perfectly placed bunt hit.

The Cougars then used a balanced scoring attack, plating two runs in each of the second, third, fourth and sixth innings.  Despite the Battling Bishops doing the same, Kean was able to remain on top from start to finish.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Marcantonio was 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs scored, a double and homerun.

Pellone was 4-for-5 with four RBI, three runs scored, a double and homerun.

Noah Rivera picked up the win with two and a third innings of relief work while Cole McGourty earned the save pitching four innings allowing four hits while striking out six.

Kean returns home and will host University of Mt. St. Vincent on Saturday at noon.
