Union, N.J. (3/18/26) – Kean University swept John Jay College in non-conference action on Wednesday.
Kean 4, John Jay 3 (Game One)
The teams' traded single runs in the first and second frames as Nikki Lusnia registered an RBI sac fly in the bottom of the first to give Kean a 1-0 lead while John Jay countered with a solo homer to lead off the second by Kendal Bryant.
The Bloodhounds took the lead in the third with a two-out single (2-1) before Kean tied things back up in the fourth off an RBI single from Ashley Weber.
The Cougars went ahead for good in the fifth with a two RBI hit from Maddie Cerami.
John Jay inched closer in the seventh, scoring a single run and putting the tying run at third base, but Lusnia was able to work out of the jam with a fly out to preserve the win.
Colleen Downey was 2-for-3.
Lusnia earned the win with the complete game effort. She struck out 13.
Kean 11, John Jay 2 (Game Two, 5 innings)
The Cougars exploded for eight runs in the second inning to power past the Bloodhounds in the nightcap. Kean recorded seven walks and three hits in the frame.
Kean added two more runs in the third, again aided by walks. The Cougars registered 13 in just four innings.
Offensively Brianna Sciulli and Gina Mahlik each had three hits.
Samantha Raymond earned the win in the circle tossing all five innings and allowing two runs on five hits.
Kean heads on the road to Drew University on Thursday in a makeup doubleheader.
